We invite both the Jewish community and non-Jewish allies to join us in standing up against antisemitism and hate.

What is the purpose of the Rose Ambassador Program?

Since Oct. 7, our Jewish community has faced a tremendous rise in antisemitism including a historic surge of hate incidents in Orange County. The Rose Ambassador program is a grassroots effort involving meetings between Rose Ambassadors and their network of friends and colleagues to educate the broader Orange County community and build a community of upstanders.

What is a Rose Ambassador? What is a Friend of Rose?

A Rose Ambassador is an individual in the Jewish Community, or an individual who wants to combat hatred against the Jewish community by speaking to and recruiting friends and colleagues in the OC community to become Friends of Rose. A Friend of Rose is an individual who speaks up against and reports acts of antisemitism and hate they observe in the community. Some Friends of Rose may want to become Rose Ambassadors.

Why should I become a Rose Ambassador?

This rise of hatred against Jews can lead to devastating consequences: hate incidents, the disruption of equality and tolerance and the creation of division and mistrust. Today, the Jewish community are the targets, but history has shown that it will soon spread to others. Your voice can make a powerful difference.

What would my responsibilities be as a Rose Ambassador?

You will facilitate one-on-one conversations with potential allies to raise awareness about antisemitism and hate; you will report hate incidents that you observe in your community and educate yourself and others about hatred of Jews in Orange County.

What’s the time commitment for being a Rose Ambassador?

There is a one hour training period, which will occur either in person or on zoom to your preference. From then, we anticipate your commitment being the time that it takes you to have your one on one meetings.

How does this program differ from other groups that fight antisemitism?

While other programs provide materials, organizes events and use social media, the Rose Ambassador Program is a groundbreaking program that uses grassroots person-to-person efforts to combat Jewish hate. 

Do I need to be affiliated with the Jewish community to join?

You do not need to be currently affiliated. If this is your first experience, we welcome you to the community with open arms.

Do I need to be Jewish to become an ambassador?

You do not need to be Jewish to become an ambassador. We only ask that you support, and are an active ally of, the Jewish community.

Is there a cost to join?

There is no individual financial cost to join. Your time and support are invaluable and help make a tangible impact 

What if someone tells me they are experiencing a different form of hate?

Tell them we do not tolerate any form of hate, whether it’s related to race, religion, gender, sexuality, etc. Report the incident to CALvsHate. OC is a community where everyone should feel safe and accepted.
