#GivingTuesday |
|
It may seem a little surprising that no one came up with the idea before to designate a specific day to help launch the holiday charitable giving season. Indeed, the concept of Giving Tuesday is brilliant -- to just give everyone time to pause and think about what's most important at the holiday season and to get people to think about charitable giving in a different way. This holiday season, have a conversation about charity, holiday giving, volunteerism and how you can really make a difference over the holiday season in our Orange County community. Of course, we hope you will consider supporting the remarkable programs and services of Jewish Federation & Family Services. Because, together, we do the extraordinary. #GivingTuesday |

JFFS Program Spotlight: Reading Partners | |
![]() Mazel tov to the JFFS Reading Partners program for being honored recently at the Santa Ana Unified School District and Santa Ana Public Schools Foundation Annual Partnership Breakfast as an “Outstanding Business Partner". Reading Partners is a volunteer literacy program created in 2005 by JFFS’ Women’s Philanthropy. Volunteers – men as well as women – are trained to help students in OC public school classes (grades K-3) learn to read, so they can read to learn. Our Reading Partners program was nominated for the award by the principal of Garfield Elementary School who noted at the time, “Your dedicated volunteers are so valued by our students and teachers. The training that you equip your volunteers with is priceless. Just yesterday, one of my kindergarten teachers was raving about how her Reading Partner volunteer was allowing her students to receive extra love, support, and the attention they are in need of at school. As the principal, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart!” Just another example of how, together, we do the extraordinary!
