Hillel of OC, Chabad on Campus and Jewish Federation of Orange County's Rose Project are our Jewish community’s lead organizations on local college and university campuses, working round the clock to address incidents of antisemitism.
We are here to support you.
The following are guidelines for addressing incidents in different situations and environments on campus.
Security on Campus:
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
For non-immediate concerns, submit a complaint to your university’s security department.
Classroom Incident:
For issues with a Teacher Assistant (TA), professor, or Guest Lecturer:
- Save Evidence: Ensure you keep any relevant evidence for the case.
- File a bias report with your campus.
- Report the incident.
- You can access legal assistance.
- Chain of Reporting:
- Start with your professor.
- If dismissed, proceed to the Department Head.
- If no response, escalate to the Faculty Dean.
- If necessary, contact the Vice President of Academics at the Provost Office.
- Keep your Hillel and IEC Informed throughout the process, providing updates on the situation—they are here to support you.
Clubs & Student Government on Campus:
For issues related to campus clubs or student government, whether incidents or statements:
- Save Evidence: Ensure you keep any relevant evidence for the case.
- File a bias report with your campus.
- Report the incident to: ReportCampusHate.org
- Keep your Hillel and IEC Informed throughout the process, providing updates on the situation—they are here to support you.
The law is on our side: The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which protects all students from discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance from the Department.
