Dear Friends,
Last night, Federation’s Solomon Society held their 15th annual Late Night event, attended by some 300 business leaders and dedicated philanthropists whose work supporting Federation’s community programs strengthens us all. From the laughter shared to the stories told, the evening was a powerful reminder of the values and purpose that define who we are, even in uncertain times.
Late Night is not just a night of entertainment and laughter—though Elon Gold and Jeff Ross certainly brought that. It was a night for our community to come together and celebrate the impact each of us has created this past year, both locally and globally. We celebrated Eyal Aronoff as our 2024 Mensch of the Year (Mazel Tov!), recognizing his remarkable contributions and unwavering commitment to bettering the world around him. Eyal’s leadership embodies what it means to truly live by our Jewish values.
Late Night also provided a space for gathering in solidarity with our global Jewish family. We were deeply touched to hear from the Orange County family members of Ben Shimoni z”l, who was tragically murdered by Hamas while saving the lives of nine young Israelis at the Nova Festival. His is a story of incredible personal sacrifice. His memory is a blessing.
We also heard from young leaders like Noah Lederman, whose journey from PJ Library and Passport recipient as a child, to Student to Student ambassador as a teen, and now global advocate as a young adult, is inspiring. His story encapsulates the work we do at Federation—empowering future leaders to stand up against hate and lead with pride.
Since October 7, our community has stepped up in extraordinary ways. Through your generosity, we have distributed $1.25 million to Israel from our Israel Emergency Campaign. These funds are providing critical support, from trauma relief to helping small businesses survive the ongoing conflict. It is because of you that we are able to stand with Israel and offer aid when it is most needed.
As I reflect on last night, I am filled with immense pride for what we have accomplished together. But our work is never over. Whether you attended Late Night for the first time or have been a part of this community for years, your involvement makes a difference.
Thank you for coming together to support the Jewish future.
Shabbat Shalom,
