The Leadership Initiative is designed to cultivate lay leaders within the Orange County Jewish community—individuals who are ready to step forward with purpose, confidence, and a commitment to collective responsibility. Grounded in Jewish values and informed by the realities of today’s communal landscape, the program supports emerging leaders in strengthening their leadership identity, deepening their knowledge of the Jewish nonprofit ecosystem, and building a trusted network of peers.
Through a combination of cohort-based learning, skill-building workshops, community exposure, and reflection, participants will explore what it means to lead with curiosity, presence, and care. The program also addresses the practical and philosophical aspects of communal leadership.
The Leadership Initiative is offered at no cost to participants, our investment in the future of Jewish leadership in Orange County.
Program Objectives
Program Goals
By the conclusion of the program, participants will:
Who this program is for
This program is intended for Jewish individuals who have some leadership or volunteer experience and are seeking to deepen their engagement. Ideal participants:
The program is designed to support those who are actively building their leadership path—not those who are already at the highest levels of communal leadership, but those in the process of growing into that space.
Guiding principles and values
The program is grounded in core Jewish values that shape both the learning experience and the leadership culture it seeks to cultivate:
Recognizing the inherent dignity and potential in every person.
Leading with a sense of shared obligation.
Prioritizing connection, belonging, and collective strength.
Honoring diverse perspectives, experiences, and approaches to leadership.
Embracing the role of leaders in contributing to the repair of the world.
Practicing intentionality and showing up fully in leadership and community life.
Program design features
Cohort-Based Structure: Participants move through the program together, building trust, connection, and a network of mutual support.

Salons: Intimate, home-hosted gatherings led by community leaders that foster informal connection, meaningful conversation, and shared learning in a relaxed setting.
Jewish Communal Exposure: Participants learn from other Jewish communal leaders and key institution representatives.
Reflective Practice: Through peer dialogue and structured reflection, participants connect personal values to their leadership.
Practical Application: The program emphasizes actionable leadership skills and prepares participants to step into meaningful roles following the experience.
Intended Outcomes for the community
A stronger, more diverse, and more confident pipeline of Jewish communal leaders.
Increased cross-organizational collaboration initiated by lay leaders.
A broader base of leadership with new individuals stepping into visible roles.
