Jeremiah Society, Federation's program for adults with disabilities, celebrates Jewish life monthly, hosted by community partners including Temple Bat Yahm and Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot. Since 1985, under the leadership of co-founder Rose Lacher (z”l), volunteers have been the lifeblood of Jeremiah Society, providing Jewish learning, music, art, movement, and other activities each month. Volunteer service has continued across the generations through the devoted service of longtime co-chairs Sheldon Lacher and Hilary Lacher (son and daughter of Rose), Benny Bergman (son of Jeremiah co-founder Rabbi Robert Jeremiah Bergman (z" l)), and volunteers from Federation’s NextGen (age 21-45). This December, Jeremiah Society celebrates its 40th Hanukkah. What better time than now to become a Jeremiah Society volunteer? Reach out to Sila Wolf at Federation to learn more and get connected!
