About

Countering Hate is a half-day learning experience for leaders across all sectors of our Orange County community including K-12 schooling, government leaders, nonprofit organizations, faith-based institutions, and law enforcement.

The summit will bring together nationally renowned leaders and local practitioners to explore antisemitism through the fields of criminology and sociology to:

  • Educate the community on what “counts” as antisemitism
  • Explore the relationship between antisemitism and other forms of hate, and how they threaten democracy
  • Move towards evidence-based action, providing tools and develop strategies to combat anti-Jewish and other forms of hate in our community
  • Connect our community, taking the initial steps towards incubating partnerships and attracting allies who can help shrink the footprint of hate

Reporting Resources

Hate crimes are not only an attack on the victim—they are meant to threaten and intimidate an entire community. If you believe you are a victim or a witness of a hate crime, report it. If this is an emergency, dial 9-1-1 or your local police to get immediate help.

Anti-Defamation League reporting to prevent people from being targeted because of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin or level of ability.

State of California Civil Rights Department reporting to CA vs. Hate, to help individuals and communities targeted for hate; identify options for next steps after a hate incident; connect people targeted for hate with culturally competent resources; and to improve hate incident and crime reporting data to enhance hate crimes prevention and response.

If you believe you are a victim of a hate crime or that you witnessed an incident of hate, please reach out to your local law enforcement agency. Remember, in a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.
