Fascinated by three minutes of film footage taken by David Kurtz of his visit to his hometown of Nasielsk, Poland in 1938, and subsequently by reading Glenn Kurtz’s book, "Three Minutes in Poland: Discovering a Lost World in a 1938 Family Film", filmmaker Bianca Stigter asked herself an intriguing question: Could she make those three minutes last longer, to keep the past in the present? Her documentary, "Three Minutes—A Lengthening" is a response to that question. It is an experiment that turns scarcity into a quality and investigates the nature of film itself.
A conversation with filmmaker Bianca Stigter and author Glenn Kurtz will follow the screening, moderated by Stephen Galloway, Dean of Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
