Tuesday, Dec 13 7p.m. – 8:30pm
Over nearly two thousand years, Jews in Morocco have developed a singular culture. Although much reduced in size today, Morocco still has the largest Jewish community in the Arab world. The history of the Jews of Morocco provides a fascinating glimpse of how Jews lived in the midst of a majority Muslim society.
Presenter: Jessica Marglin is assistant professor of Religion and the Ruth Ziegler Early Career Chair in Jewish Studies at the University of Southern California. She earned her PhD from Princeton and her BA and MA from Harvard. Her research focuses on the history of Jews and Muslims in North Africa and the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on law.
