I WOULD LOVE TO FIND MY GREAT GRANDFATHER BUT DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START
Most new genealogists find starting their search a major challenge. Where to start, how to start, what information is available, how does the internet help and hinder…. it’s all too much!!
On March 26th, our own Michelle Sandler will provide many of the answers. She will present to us how to get started in Jewish Genealogy. Oral History, US Census, Naturalization Records, Immigration Records, Family History Library, major online sources of genealogical information such as JewishGen and Familysearch.org. She will define terms used in research and genealogy and answer those questions that challenge the newcomer genealogist every day.
Michelle’s background is perfect for the experienced genealogist she is. With a Bachelors in History and a Masters in Library Science and a career as a Librarian including a dozen years at Westwood College Anaheim … her understanding of research techniques and organizing her work apply perfectly to Ancestry research.
Michelle has been involved in Genealogy for 33 years. Having served as President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Orange County from 1986 to 1993and over the last several years she has served as President, VP of programming and Librarian of the Orange County Jewish Genealogy Society.
Join us for this informative program, it may well open the door to a new hobby (or obsession) in Genealogy.
