Jewish American contributions to medicine have been marked by a determination to improve the world.
Dr. Leo Gordon, will highlight a few of the many Jewish American doctors who have made world changing contributions to advances in medicine. The numbers are remarkable. Of the total Nobel Prize Laureates in medicine 28% have been Jewish, while the worldwide Jewish population is only .2%.
This program is presented by Dr. Leo Gordon, Medical Advisor for the Cedars Sinai Medical Center Historical Conservancy. Dr. Gordon was instrumental in researching over 300 doctors of which 30 were selected to be painted on a mural at Cedars Sinai called " Jewish Contributions to Medicine" In addition he will share the history of Jewish Hospitals in the los Angeles area. Dr. Gordon, MD, FACS is an award winning physician at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He attended Northwestern University Medical School, did his residency in surgery at Tufts Medical Center and his fellowship at Scripps Clinic. He is an author, clinical teacher and surgeon.
