Meet Vice Admiral Herman Shelanski (ret), United States Navy. He will talk about famous Jewish Admirals and in particular how his personal hero, Commodore Uriah P. Levy inspired him. He discusses his personal experiences, dedicating a Torah on the world’s largest warship and his love of the Navy.
Presenter: Vice Admiral Herman Shelanski retired as a vice admiral after 38 years of dedicated and honorable service in the U.S. Navy. He is a second generation American descended from the Lithuanian Jews. He has dedicated 2 Holocaust Torahs on board Aircraft Carriers and celebrated Judaism at sea during his travels around the world.
