1. Fundamentalism of the Shia: Iran and its Regional Allies. Islam is divided between the majority Sunnis and minority Shias. Iran is the dominating Shia country which moved from the western oriented Shah-controlled society in the 1979 Revolution to become a country independent of international intervention. A question frequently asked is ""Will the 'Shia Crescent' ever become a dominant force in the region?”
