Seeing Through the Century: 12 Photographers
In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the center of the art world moved from Paris, which had been occupied by the Nazis during World War II. European artists, many of whom were Jewish, emigrated to America and settled in New York City, making it the new center of the art world. At the same time, Abstract Expressionism became the first specifically American movement to achieve international recognition with many of its artists being Jewish as well.
