Israeli television can't seem to get enough of Ultra-Orthodox Jews, a conservative sector of Israeli society that traditionally eschews secular media. Shows that feature Ultra-Orthodox Jews, like Shtisel and Shababnikim, are popular not just in Israel, but are screened internationally and available on digital platforms such as Netflix. Representation of other minorities such as Israeli-Palestinians and Mizrahi Jews has increased as well. What does this diversification tell us about Israeli television in a global market and Israeli attitudes towards religion? How does this trend mirror similar patterns in the United States and elsewhere?
