Conversion is one of the most controversial issues in the Jewish Community today. The four different movements of Judaism have four different approaches to conversion. Sometimes these different approaches can create conflict. How do we deal with this situation? The problem seems almost insurmountable. What possible solutions could there be to this challenge to world Jewry?"

David Kalb is the Rabbi of the Jewish Learning Center of New York where he is responsible for the creative, educational, spiritual and programmatic direction of the organization. He serves as a teacher and a guide to students who are pursuing conversion. He is an Associate Faculty member of CLAL - The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership and a Senior Rabbinic Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute. Rabbi Kalb was on the educational advisory board of the WNET/BBC documentary 'The Story of the Jews.' Previously he was the Director of Learning and Innovation at Central Synagogue and the first Orthodox Rabbi to serve in a sr-level position at a major Reform congregation. Kalb served as the Director of Jewish Education at 92nd Street Y and his lecture circuit includes the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America, the Wexner Alumni of Metro North NJ, the Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Learning Kollel at HUC, Samuel Bronfman Fdn. His articles have appeared in the Huffington Post, Haaretz, Jerusalem Post, NY Jewish Week, JTA, and the Jerusalem Report. Rabbi Kalb received his B.A. through the Joint Program between Columbia University and JTS; his rabbinic ordination is from Rabbi Shlomo Riskin Rosh Hayeshiva of Yeshivat Hamivtar in Efrat.
