Welcome to ReadingPartners
Here in Southern California, two-thirds of children in grades K-3 are reading below grade level. And far too many can't read at all.
That's why Women's Philanthropy of Jewish Federation & Family Services created Reading Partners - a volunteer literacy program - to help kids in our communities learn to read and improve their reading skills. Reading Partners volunteer in Orange County public school K-3 classrooms identified as socio-economically or educationally disadvantaged, in which many students are English learners.
All it takes is just one hour a week of your time (or more, if you wish) to make a huge difference in a child's life. We welcome all volunteers - men and women, people of all faiths. The return on your investment of time is priceless: your're helping children learn to read, so they can read to learn.
In previous school years, Women's Philanthropy provided nearly 100 Reading Partners volunteers to kindergarten, first, second and third grade classrooms in 16 schools in the Saddleback Valley, Newport-Mesa, Santa Ana, Fullerton, Ocean View (Huntington Beach), San Juan Capistrano and Orange Unified School Districts.

School Supplies Project & OneBook Project
During the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years, the Reading Partners program implemented two very important projects, The School Supplies Project and The OneBook Project.
In December, Reading Partners volunteers hand deliver a gift bag of school supplies to each student in their classroom. At the end of the academic year each student receives thier own brand new, grade-appropriate book to take home.
Thank you, Reading Partners volunteers!
The teachers, and especially the students,
love what you do, and are very thankful.
