Lion of Judah

I will make a difference in this world.
My life is a blessing and giving is a privilege.
I will act now, from strength and with a generosity of spirit developed and nurtured by Jewish values.
I will take my place in a vibrant community of dedicated women.
I am a 21st century philanthropist.
I am a Lion.

Lion of Judah is the pinnacle of a woman's philanthropic investment in her own name.  Each Lion of Judah, who contributes a minimum of $5,000 each year, proudly wears her Lion pin - an international Jewish symbol of women's strength and leadership.

Shirley Field and Ellen Weiss are Co-Vice Presidents of Lion of Judah 2008-2009, and Roz Vogelfanger is Chair of Lion Development.   To learn more about Lion of Judah, email women@jfoc.org or call Eileen Garbutt, Director of Women's Philanthropy, at 949-435-3484.

Lion of Judah Endowment

The Lion of Judah Endowment, or LOJE, is the endowment component of the Lion of Judah Major Gifts program. A LOJE is created by establishing a fund of $100,000 or more in the investor's name, with the Community Foundation of Jewish Federation, ensuring perpetuation of the Lion of Judah level gift to the Generations Fund.

LOJE is a powerful statement of an investor's commitment to tzedakah, providing a legacy for family and community.

We are so proud that 9 women have endowed their Lion of Judah gift through a LOJE.   For more information on establishing a LOJE, please contact Eileen Garbutt at 949-435-3484 ext 336.

International Lion of Judah Conference

November 12-16, 2008 in Tel Aviv

The International Lion of Judah Conference brings together many of the 14,000 Lion of Judah women worldwide who are involved in the highest echelons of leadership and philanthropy in Jewish communities across North America, Israel and around the globe.

The conference is designed to educate Lions on the issues affecting the Jewish community, as well as to motivate and inspire them to continue their life-saving work and encourage others to join them. Conference speakers regularly include the day's most respected policy makers and opinion shapers.

"It was an exciting, well organized meeting with over 1000 Lions and some 200 Lion Kings in attendance.  The atmosphere was festive and upbeat, with music, dancing, entertainment, and  LOTS of food. At the meetings and sessions, in addition to site visits throughout Israel, we heard from President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni, Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Stan Fisher, and the head of the Bank of Israel.  What an impressive and great experience!! Am Yisrael Chai!!"  Roz Vogelfanger, Lion of Judah Development
