Welcome to ReadingPartners

Here in Southern California, two-thirds of our children from kindergarten through third grade are reading below grade level. And far too many can't read at all.

That's why Women's Philanthropy of Jewish Federation & Family Services created Reading Partners, to help kids in our communities learn how to read and improve their reading skills. If you've got just one hour a week, together we can make a difference!  Men are welcome - Reading Partners welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds.

In previous school years, Women's Philanthropy provided nearly 100 Reading Partners volunteers to kindergarten, first, second and third grade classrooms in 16 schools in the Saddleback Valley, Newport-Mesa, Santa Ana, Fullerton, Ocean View (Huntington Beach), San Juan Capistrano and Orange Unified School Districts.

And remember, all it takes is one hour a week, to do a world of good!

Applications for the 2013-2014 School Year will be available on June 3rd.

School Supplies Project & OneBook Project

During the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years, the Reading Partners program implemented two very important projects, The School Supplies Project and The OneBook Project.

In December, Reading Partners volunteers hand deliver a gift bag of school supplies to each student in their classroom. At the end of the academic year each student receives thier own brand new, grade-appropriate book to take home.

Thank you, Reading Partners volunteers!
The teachers, and especially the students,
love what you do, and are very thankful.
